President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned politicians and other individuals to stop perpetrating divisive politics as the country heads to the electioneering period.
Speaking in Bamburi, Mombasa on Thursday, the president urged leaders to focus on serving the people instead of politicking.
"We are not at war with anyone and we cannot keep on risking the lives of our people because of petty politics," said the President.
"If you are ready, come so that we work together. But if you don’t want, let us do our work separately," added the President during the launch of the Mombasa Storm Water and Drainage project.
Kenyatta however had a hard time during his visit, after Mombasa Governor Ali Joho accused his Jubilee administration of taking credit for projects that they did not fund.
"Those saying we have not done anything in Mombasa and elsewhere at the Coast have no eyes to see all these projects," he said at Buxton.
The President unveiled the Sh 600 million Buxton footbridge in Mvita constituency before commissioning the Mombasa storm water drainage and later Ziwa La Ng’ombe Informal Infrastructural Improvement project in Nyali constituency.
