Presidential candidate in the 2017 race Ekuru Aukot has attacked NTV boss Linus Kaikai after he criticised him for opposing the inclusion of all the August 8 presidential candidates in the October 26 fresh elections. The twitter feud began early Saturday after Kaikai who is NTV Managing Editor tweeted “So in Maina Kiai v IEBC @EAukot would have demanded that ONLY results declared at his Kapedo Polling Station are final? Iko shida [sync].”Aukot responded with a series of tweets linking Kaikai to Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Party (ODM).“I can take criticism from any quarters but not from an ODM mole masquerading as a balanced media practitioner. Iko shida,” wrote Aukot in one of the tweets.“Not surprised at all by this (tweet) coming from a man more ODM than @Raila Odinga himself yet pretends to be a journalist. Iko shida.”There has been mixed reactions in the general public over legal standings of Aukot’s position that High Court’s order allowing him to be included in the October 26 polls was only applicable to him and not all the other candidates. Before Justice John Mativo granted Aukot the order, IEBC had only gazetted the names of Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga for the fresh polls. After the order, IEBC gazetted the names of not just Aukot but all the other candidates who took part in the August 8 elections much to the disappointment of the Thirdway Alliance candidate.Raila Odinga has since dismissed the court’s decision saying it went against the Supreme Court ruling of 2013 that stated that only two candidates should participate in fresh polls. The NASA leader has however insisted that he will not participate in the polls.
