A presidential candidate has now called upon the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (Iebc) to consider giving the ballot printing tender to any local company.
Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot said it was time the electoral agency gave a local printing company the tender instead of taking it to a land that has never conducted any election.
"Why should Iebc take this tender to a country that does not even know how elections are conducted. Dubai has never held any elections in recent times. It's time they gave the tender to a homegrown company. That will not only bring a level of trust but will also generate jobs to our youth," he said.
Aukot added that all that Iebc needs to do is to call all presidential contenders so that they can agree on the security features to be used before the local printing can go on.
His sentiments comes in the wake of a court ruling which directed the Iebc to cancel the tender awarded to Dubai based Al Ghurair for the printing of presidential ballot papers.
