Presidential candidate Joseph Nyaga has been urged to shelve his ambition and support President Uhuru Kenyatta in the October 26 repeat presidential election.

According to his brother, former Kamukunji MP Norman Nyaga, the politician embarrassed himself in the last election and should take a break to have adequate time to prepare for future polls

Nyaga, who vied as an independent candidate in the August 8 general election, emerged third with 37, 791 votes after President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee and NASA's Raila Odinga.

"How can a presidential candidate get only 30 votes from his home constituency that has more than 60,000 voters? It shows his people do not trust him and thus does not have any business to lead the country, he should go back to the drawing board,” the former MP said, as quoted by the People Daily.

He was speaking during the homecoming party of Mbeti South Member of County Assembly Mureithi Kiura in Embu on Sunday.

The IEBC has gazetted Nyaga's name afresh after High Court last week ordered it to include names of the other six candidates who participated in the August poll.

Initially, the electoral agency had ruled that only Kenyatta and Odinga would face off in the election ordered by the Supreme Court after annulling August polls.

The former MP urged Kenyans to re-elect President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto because of their impressive development track record.

He castigated Opposition leader Raila Odinga for pulling out of the race, saying he had sensed defeat ahead of the fresh poll.

“I urge IEBC to proceed with the fresh poll without Raila’s name because he has withdrawn from the race to save the country money and time lost in the prolonged electioneering period,” Nyaga was further quoted by the local daily.
