Njenga said that this is an example that ought to be emulated by each an every Kenyan so that the country can move forward.

"I am very much delighted by the President's humility, publicly apologising to Kenyans. It was a very unprecedented move,” said Njenga.

Njenga, who was speaking some minutes after president’s speech, urged Kenyans to take the President's apology with seriousness.

“This is a sign of a leader who want the country to move a head,” notes Njenga.

He adds that the president had the option of not apologising for the injustice done to Kenyans by the past regimes.

“As Kenyans we also need to forgive one another so that we can heal our nation,” said Njenga.

The MP recounted the events of the MauMau war of 1950s where he said that Kenyans who resisted the British rule forgave those who collaborated and the nation was able to move forward.

"Humility and forgiveness are virtues that God adores. Let us embrace them,” said Njenga
