Kenyan Assistant referee Aden Range Marwa has been selected to be among the match officials who will be on duty to officiate the 2018 FIFA World cup in Russia.
President Uhuru Kenyatta jotted down a congratulatory message on his Twitter handle to Marwa after his selection.
"Congratulations to Assistant Referee Aden Marwa on your selection to officiate at the 2018 FIFA WorldCup in Russia. Well done Mwalimu," President Uhuru Kenyatta stated.
He is the first Kenyan football official to be involved in any FIFA competition, having been featured in the 2014 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil.
The mathematics and chemistry teacher from Komotobo Secondary school in Migori County was named as an assistant referee in the 2012 and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Aden Range Marwa,41, was first featured in a major international duty during Africa Cup Match in Zanzibar in 2000.
He has served as a FIFA referee from 2011 and was named as a reserve official at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and an assistant referee at the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup.
Marwa has once again shed light and hope to the struggling Kenya football despite low standards of football locally and the usual FIFA dropping.
