Embattled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Isaac Hassan has been labelled a persona non grata as furious Kitutu Masaba MP called his a ‘bias’ arbiter whose time in office is numbered.
This comes after defiant Mr Hassan dared the opposition to boycott 2017 elections during an interview with a local newspaper.
Speaking to the reporter in an exclusive interview on Sunday, Mr Timothy Bosire accused Hassan of arrogance and demanded his immediate eviction.
“Mr Hassan is a persona non grata as far as electoral matters are concerned. His reckless remarks on Sunday Standard about opposition calls to disband the commission are outrageous and should be condemned from all political players,” he said.
“He is a biased arbiter who should never be allowed even to lead an organization. As Cord, we are tired with his arrogance but I am happy that he knows his days in office are numbered. I want to reiterate that we cannot go for polls with this compromised commission,” said the ODM national treasurer.
Meanwhile, Nyamira ODM Youth League chair Mr Dennis Marube has confirmed a press conference about IEBC on Monday that will be proceeded by mass demonstration at the commission’s regional offices in the County.
“We have put all measures in place for a press conference to show our dissatisfaction in the manner which IEBC is treating the opposition. We will not allow them to conduct 2017 polls,” he said.
