Karua, who has shown interest in Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat, was a critic of the Jubilee administration accusing it of corruption.

And on Tuesday, Deputy President William Ruto challenged the former Gachugu MP to join Jubilee Party following resistance from local people.

“I want to tell you Mama Karua, these people love you so much. The only problem they have is your party. They are in Jubilee and nothing else,” he said.

“Make a decision and join us fully because that is their desire. We can pull together as a team if we join one party,” added Ruto after Karua yielded to public boos, surrendering microphone to the DP.

Karua is expected to wrestle with former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru in 2017 elections and has since defended her decision to back President Kenyatta.
