In an interview with a local daily on Tuesday, Wambua said Kalonzo will easily win the 2022 presidential seat if Mutua backs him.

According to Wambua, both Kalonzo and Mutua will lose if each insists on contesting.

“As Kamba leaders we need to meet and reach an agreement on who between Kalonzo and Mutua should fly the presidential flag in 2022,” Wambua said.

Wambua,  however, observed that basing on seniority and political experience, Kalonzo is the best to fly the Kamba community flag for the top seat.

He said Kalonzo has the experience and political networks to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Kitui senator said it is time the Kamba community got serious and fought for its rightful political space.

He said the community has often been used by others to climb  to  top leadership.

Wambua asked Kalonzo to shelve his differences with Mutua and forge a formidable force that will see them clinch the presidency in 2022.

Both Kalonzo and Mutua have declared interests in the presidential seat.

Mutua is expected to contest for the top seat on his Maendeleo Chap Chap party while Kalonzo is seeking to fly the NASA ticket basing on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) he signed with Raila Odinga in 2017.

Early this month, a section of Kamba leaders endorsed Kalonzo’s bid for 2022.

Kalonzo had also hinted on  re branding his Wiper party to One  Kenya Movement (OKM).
