Leaders from Nyamira and Kisii Counties have been slammed for giving deaf ears to calls to have embattled businessman Don Bosco Gichana released from a Tanzanian jail.
For four years now, Gichana remains in Arusha prison even after prosecution team failed multiple times to present evidence to fraud and money laundering for full trial.
During the entire period, Bosco has been released four times, only to be arrested minutes later in each occasion for unknown reasons.
"It is quite sad that Kisii leaders have kept mum about Bosco. He has never been charged and prosecutors seems not interested," said Beavon Magare, an activist.
Another activist Samuel Onyancha said: "Bosco's woes reflects a deeply rot international community that is not ready to respect laws. We shall take this war to another step."
In solidarity with Bosco, a section of Kisii and Nyamira residents have organised demonstrations this Friday to push for Bosco's release.
Last month, nominated Senator Millecent Omanga was subjected to social media criticism after erroneously reporting that Mr. Gichana had been released.
