The price for the indigenous roots, Mondia whytei (Mukombera) in Kakamega town has risen up. This is after its demand increased in the past few weeks.
Kakamega County is currently hosting the 5th Devolution Conference at the Kakamega High School.
The conference kicked off in a style which witnessed governors and senators in football kits, when they engaged themselves in a friendly football match.The match was 'a game to watch' after the governor's team trashed the senators five goals without a reply.
Kakamega residents have complained that the price of 'Mukombero' has since shoot up after the conference kicked off. A small piece of the root, which is used to go at Sh10-20 is now going at Sh40.
The 'Mukombero' powder, which was going between Sh30 and Sh40, is now going for at least Sh50.
The 'Mukombero' roots are best known for aiding men to perform better in bed. According to Kakemega residents, it is also said that it increases one's urge to have sex.
Yesterday, a deputy governor attending the conference was found in a compromising situation with a woman in a hotel. It is not yet clear if his situation is linked to these roots 'Mukombero'
"The price is going up rapidly, from what I used to pay as little as Sh10, am now paying about Sh30, traders as saying the demand is high," said Wanjala Avitsa, a residence operating as a Boda Boda in Kakamega town.
