PrideInn Hotels, has defended itself, following an article published in the Daily Nation and Business Daily on October 3, 2017 titled “Pride Inn Hotels Put Under Liquidation Over 69m Debt”.

The Hotel confirmed the ruling made by the High Court of Kenya, adding that the case is about a payment dispute as opposed to PrideInn not having the capacity to meet its financial obligation.

The Hotel chain's Managing Director, Hasnain Noorani clarified that the issue was purely a commercial dispute and does not deserve the ruling, and further disputed the debt in question "because of fraud, misrepresentation and coercion."

"We have strongly contested the Ruling and have moved to the Court of Appeal to challenge the finding by the learned Judge. The hearing in the Court of Appeal will be on 4th October 2017," he said.

In a statement, Tuesday, Noorani indicated the official receiver had not taken control of PrideInn and the directors remain in full control of the facilities, assuring its clients, business partners and stakeholders, that operations in all the eight hotels continued as normal.

"As a company that was established and founded in 2011, we have enjoyed an exponential growth from our humble beginning of the 1st hotel comprised of 28 rooms to the current eight (8) hotels with over 600 rooms and conference capacities of up to 5,000 people in just within seven (7) years."

"We remain solid in our financial capacity as we embark on our short term growth to establish a further 10 hotels over the next 3 years in the various counties within Kenya in line with our vision “To be the leading hospitality chain in East and Central Africa” by simply giving our customers “A Global Feel with a Kenyan Soul”

He indicated that PrideInn Hotels is a company that is fully run and managed by Kenyans and has employed more than a thousand people and would continue with its strong belief in “Buy Kenya Build Kenya”.
