The church does not allow polygamy but advocates for one man one woman marriage, a priest has said.
Speaking at St. Augustine Catholic church Kiamunyi, Parish priest Benard Rono said that the discussions going on are just founded on personal believes and worldly cultural believes that are temporary.
“The idea of marrying more than one wife is purely not christian and as the church we are not going to entertain in our preaching and teachings because we want to abide to the sound doctrines of the church,” he said.
He said that cultural practices and beliefs should not be used to construe that it has a backing in christian doctrine.
Rono spoke as the debate on polygamy continues to elicit mixed reactions after Kiambu Women Rep Gathoni wa Muchomba told men to marry as many wives as they can take care of.
