The retreat which began on Saturday, December 2, which is usually conducted in Mombasa will go on until Thursday next week.

According to Kenya Primary School Heads Association(KPSHA)chairman Shem Ndolo, the theme of the meeting will be "Re-engineering 21st Century Curriculum Reforms".

The meeting follows plans by the ministry of education to do away with the 8-4-4 education system which was established in 1985.It will be replaced by 2-6-6-3 education curriculum framework starting 2018.

According to reports over 10,000 teachers will converge at Sheikh Zeid Hall to bring sense in this new curriculum.

The meeting was postponed from August to December following the general elections.

"The country has stabilised from the election uncertainties. We believe the meeting will be a success," Ndolo told journalists on Saturday."We have been assured of maximum security in Mombasa for the week-long sessions," he added.

Mr. Ndolo did not relent to commend head teachers for the good management of the KCPE examination whose results were released recently.

"The head teachers did the country proud," he said.

According to the results released by Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i indicated that a total of 9,846 pupils scored 400 marks and above, a major improvement from last year was only 5,190 candidates who reached 400 marks.
