Kenya Primary School heads on Saturday started arriving in Mombasa for their annual conference.
According to The Star, school heads from all the 47 counties started arriving at the Coastal city in readiness for the meeting which will go until Thursday next week.
The school heads are expected to address different issues in the education sector. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Re-engineering 21st Century Curriculum Reforms".
The meeting comes at a time when the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders in the education sector are discussing the overhauling of the 8-4-4 system of education, which was implemented in 1985. There are plans to replace the education curriculum with 2-6-6-3.
More than 10,000 teachers from different parts of the nation are expected to arrive at the Sheikh Zeid Hall for the meeting.
KPSHA chairman Shem Ndolo has exuded confidence that the meeting will be successful, adding that the teachers are expected to discuss critical issues during the function.
"The country has stabilized from the election uncertainties. We believe the meeting will be a success," Ndolo told journalists on Saturday.
He also assured the teachers about the security ahead of the meeting.
"We have been assured of maximum security in Mombasa for the week-long sessions."
He further thanked the teachers for the management of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
