Primrose Sonko, the wife to embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, says his husband has never shown up in their Nairobi home.
Last week, photos of Sonko emerged online in which he was reportedly holding cabinet meetings in his Machakos home.
"I have not run away from Nairobi. I can hold meetings anywhere. However, my life is in danger. Cartel are after my life," he said.
Nairobi County has witnessed endless battles since resignation of Polycarp Igathe as deputy governor, a position which Sonko has already nominated Miguna Miguna.
And in an interview with K24, Mrs. Sonko raised issues about her husband's security which she says its at stake.
"I have never seen my husband for one week now. He no longer operates from Nairobi. I fear for his security and something must be done," she said.
Interior Ministry had withdrawn at least 15 bodyguards attached to Sonko in the ongoing operation to scale down VIP security.
But Sonko insists that Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has been intimidating over political reasons.
