A secondary school principal has been charged with defilement.

Samuel Kimanzi, the head teacher at Mosa Mixed Secondary School in Kisasi, Kitui is accused of defiling a Form Four student.

Appearing before chief magistrate Marianne Murage, Kimanzi denied the charges.

He was released on a Sh200, 000 bond.The head teacher is said to have called the girl from the dormitory in the middle of the night and took her to a school field where he defiled her.

The May 21 incident led to the girl’s classmates protesting after she returned crying and narrated her ordeal at the hands of the teacher.

The protest led to Kimanzi being arrested two days later.

The girl was treated at Kitui County Referral Level Hospital.

The case will proceed on September 3, 2018.
