Mrs Violet Opala texted all parents to inform them of the new development, she further noted in the message that the payment will ensure "the girls get full blessings" in their exams.

However, angry parents could not stomach the tale and headed to report the matter  to officials in the Ministry of Education. Eventually, Opala was summoned by Vihiga county Education director Siloma Kinaiya.

“…Kindly remember to clear your daughter’s fee at Friends School Kaimosi Girls and the Trust Fund levies of Sh10,500 before she starts her exams on 7th November 2016 to allow her get into her blessings fully. Thank you. Mrs Opala," read the text in part.

Opala had alleged that the amount was approved by the Cabinet Secretary, a claim the County Education Director denied.

The school was also in the headline early this year after the principals ordered teachers not to wear make-up in school.
