Machakos girls High School principal Florence Mulatya on Thursday expressed her gratitude to Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua for the developments he promised to the school that are already underway.
Speaking in her office on while addressing the press, Mulatya stated that the promises and projects were of great worth, and would improve education more in the school.
“Machakos girls’ fraternity is grateful to Alfred Mutua, who has done grand projects in ensuring the girls learn in conducive environment, with enough water and security in the school. In addition, the governor has boosted technology in our school after he attended the KCSE celebrations day and awarded the school with 70 computers,” she said.
This comes less than a week after the governor joined the school in celebrating the sterling performance of 2014 KCSE results.
Mutua gave the school five 10,000 liter water tanks, and promised to sink an additional borehole to the appendage water in the school.
Installation of solar powered generators to pump water and solar water heaters for the student showers in bathrooms has kicked off.
The security in the school compound and student movement around the school environs will be boosted, with the setting up of 10 flood lights in the school as promised by the governor.
Mulatya finally called upon the parents and guardians of the students who performed well in the national exams to take the initiative of paying school fees and ensuring the students are enrolled in higher learning institutions to pursue their careers.
Machakos girls performed excellently in last years’ KCSE, with a mean grade of 9.45, topping in the County with 212 out of 214 candidates qualifying for public university enrollment.
