Speaking on Thursday, Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang cautioned school principals against hiking school fees as centres of learning re-open for the first term, urging parents and guardians to report of such incidents for action.

“We are asking parents to report to the ministry any cases of increased fees, which are contrary to the ones recommended in the fee structure, and action will be taken against those principals,” he said.

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i also asked parents not to pay extra money apart from school fees guidelines outlined by the Ministry of Education.

County education directors have since been directed to ensure that no school head charges irregular and unjustifiable extra money.
