The Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief Principal Josphat K.Sawe has urged principals who have been affected in the recent transfers to take it positively and move to their respective centers
He said transfers are normal and should not be taken as punishment.
“As teachers we have been trained to teach in all parts of the country, for instance, I have taught in Kericho and Kakamega County which is not in my home county, I don’t see any big deal there,” he said in Eldoret town, Saturday.
“It’s not where you are assigned to teach that matters but the skills and knowledge that you will impact on students. This hullaballoo of teachers refusing to be transferred should stop,” he added.
He, however, warned parents and MCAs against inciting students to reject principals.
“This act is barbaric and primitive and should be condemned with the strongest terms possible,” noted Sawe.
He called upon the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to deploy more teachers in the institution since the institution is facing a huge shortage of teaching staff compared to the increasing number of students.
“We are experiencing scarcity of teachers, especially in the technical courses. We urge TSC to act at speed and save the situation. Currently, we only have 300 teachers with a population of over 8,000 students,” he said.
