It has now emerged that a prisoner who died at the Kodiaga prison did not succumb to cholera.
According to regional prisons commander, Amos Misik speaking on Tuesday said that the deceased died from a different disease.
Speaking at the facility, Misik said the person died from unrelated causes and that he had been sick for a while.
Another prisoner was admitted with cholera but treated and later discharged.
He also confirmed that other 34 prisoners who were treated with similar symptoms are in a stable condition.
