Mombasa County officials on Tuesday morning managed to stop an exercise where a private developer was placing a container along Links road without approval, and advice on how to do it cautiously causing serious damages to the road.
The County's Department of Infrastructure, Roads and Public Works expressed disappointment following the incident, saying the county government had invested a lot of money in upgrading roads and infrastructure.
"The private developer is set to appear before Mombasa County Law Court to answer to the said charges," read a communication from the department.
The statement further said Mombasa Vision 2035 can only be realised by heavily investing in Mega Projects such as the Links Road in Nyali.
The expanded 4-lane road has been in use for over a year now and has greatly helped in opening up the area by eliminating traffic jams that were being witnessed in the past.
"A number of roads have also been mapped for expansion in the future to speed up traffic flow. Such projects also call for great responsibility from the public."
