Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has said Standard One private school pupils will get tablets from the government.
The PS said the pupils will get the devices once Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology and Moi University complete assembling them.
Dr Kipsang said the government has no intention of sidelining private schools in the Jubilee project.
“We don’t have private and public students. The ministry takes care of all children and we appreciate the good work you are doing in the nation’s development,” he said.
The Education Ministry official was speaking during the closure of the 20th annual conference for private school managers at Sai Roc Hotel in Mombasa County.
“The two factories are finalising the assembling,” said Dr Kipsang.
The Jubilee government says it is targeting to distribute at least 1.2 million tablets to the pupils by the end of 2017.
