According to Sarah Nyakiana, a parent of three children; in class six, four and two, she decided to make the move since the public schools are becoming unreliable over strikes that face the public education sector now and again.

“I will not let my children lose more time just because of teachers strike, I now take the step so that I can forget about the strike effects to my children,” said Sarah.

Many other parents have been spotted in school uniform shops, purchasing new outfits for their children as they plan to change them to private schools.

Jared Ogato, another parent in Kisii said taking their children to private schools is now becoming a necessity, and this will help them avoid the never-ending stress of teachers’ strike.

This comes after the teachers’ strike entered its second week, with Knut Secretary General Wilson Sossion vehemently defending the position of the teachers' union.

The teachers have maintained that a salary increment is a crucial aspect of any Collective Bargaining Agreement, with the Knut boss arguing that a basic salary is the all-important component that sets the benchmark for teachers’ pay.
