The Ministry of Education has threatened to deregister all private schools that will be found conducting holiday tuition for students.

Uasin Gishu County director of Education Dr. Nichodemus Anyang’ has further warned public school teachers that they will face the full force of the law should they be found conduction the tuitions.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Monday, Anyang’ said holiday tuition was still illegal in the country.

“The ban on holiday tuition has not been lifted and I want to remind schools management that they will face consequences if found doing contrary to those directives,” said Anyang’.

“Private schools found conducting the tuition will be deregistered and head teachers in public schools risk facing disciplinary action if they do the same,” he added.

The county director of Education expressed the need for students to be allowed to relax during this April holiday so that “they can relax and when they open schools for another term they are fresh and ready to learn effectively."

He further said holidays were the perfect opportunity for the students to be close to their parents and not to be subjected to another learning sessions.
