President Uhuru Kenyatta has cited Unemployment crisis as one of the major challenges facing his government while calling upon the private sector in the country to join his government in solving the crisis affecting most youth in the country.

The President was speaking in Naivasha on Friday when opening the 2016 African Employes’ Summit.

"As President, I know that Governments cannot drive development alone, that is why I constantly call on the private sector to ensure that it takes up the investment opportunities of our time, and that it does all it can to mitigate the youth unemployment crisis," Uhuru said in his speech.

President Uhuru also identified Kenyan youth as energetic and innovative, adding that they need more support in order to fully put their potentials into use for the benefit of the country.

"Let us make full use of our young people’s energy and invention by mentoring, equipping, training and supporting youth. This will give the platform to take up their roles as creators of wealth and values," Uhuru added.

The three-day Summit is organized by Business Africa in collaboration with the Federation of Kenya Employers.
