This comes against the background of the recent surge of insecurity in the parts of the country.

The kenya security industry association chairman Samuel Mbugua says the association has been formulating ways of ensuring all member companies pay their guards the proper wages as directed by the law.

Speaking in Nakuru on Friday, Mbugua added: "Private security companies have had to pull up their socks when it comes to employee welfare," he said.

Mbugua said the guards are doing a commendable job to improve security in the country but their earnings are wanting.

He said guards, just like other security personnel, need to have good salaries in to perform their duties effectively.

"You cannot pay somebody Sh 5,000 and then you expect him to be stress free," he added.

Mbugua was speaking during the launch of Securex scholarship fund which will benefit those in school and their dependents.
