Mombasa County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim has warned private security firms against wearing uniforms that resemble the military combat uniforms.
Speaking in Mombasa on Saturday when he held a consultative meeting with over 50 directors representing different private security firms, the commissioner warned against the trend.
"Ensure your security's firm uniform doesn't replicate that of our security forces because it is not allowed,” warned Maalim.
The consultative meeting was aimed at discussing strategies of improving security at all major institutions in Mombasa especially the Likoni Ferry channel.
This comes after a terror alert was issued in the country with intelligence reports indicating that the channel might be targeted by al-Shabaab millitants during this month of Ramadhan.
