Kisumu county police have started a probe into a gun drama that allegedly involved senior county officials and revelers at a nightclub.
According to the police, a man who was in the company of the county officials filed a case reporting a shooting that happened outside a nightclub over the weekend.
In the case, the man noted that the county officials had visited a nightclub where they bought revelers drinks but a section of the youth demanded more forcing him to shoot into the air to disperse them.
"The matter was reported and investigations will commence as soon as he writes his statement,” the county police boss told a local daily.
The county government has however denied the allegations that a section of its senior officials was involved in the gun drama.
Speaking to The Nation, Deputy Governor Mathews Owili, acknowledged that he together with senior county officials had visited the club but refuted claims that there was a gun drama.
According to him, his bodyguard was withdrawn therefore he has no gun to cause any drama.
"The thing is, when we were at the club, there was no gun drama. It’s not true at all. In any case, my bodyguard has been withdrawn. Where could I get a gun?" Mr. Owili posed.
