Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has been challenged by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago to probe the ongoing ethnic clashes at the border of Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties.
Speaking on Tuesday at the burial of politician Wesley Kirorey in Kapseret sub county, Mandago claimed that the clashes may have been politically instigated and therefore need to be properly investigated.
"I am appealing to the Interior CS to come out and properly investigate these tribal clashes," he said.
"There may be chances that politicians could be fueling the conflict in my opinion," he added.
The conflict has left tens dead, scores displaced and several school remain closed even as national examinations approach.
