Embu county security officials have launched investigations into hate leaflets circulated in Embu town.

Embu West Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCIO) George Etyiang, while condemning the incident, said the security agents are seriously following the matter.

The leaflets warn the Embu community to support Mbeere leadership or leave the area immediately.

They were circulated in the region after the Thursday ruling on the gubernatorial petition filed by former senator Lenny Kivuti challenging Embu Governor Martin Wambora's win.

The court ordered scrutiny and recount of the gubernatorial votes cast on August 8, 2017.

Residents of Embu where the leaflets were circulated expressed concern over such move, saying it was only meant to divide the communities residing in the county.

The leaflets, believed to have been circulated on Saturday night, were spotted in Embu Bus Park, Spring Valley, and Karurumo towns

Etyiang has assured residents of their safety and that security teams were investigating the sources and authors of the leaflets.
