Toyota cars are the most used cars in Kenya, mostly Kisii County. In every 10 cars, 7 of are Toyotas.

They are preferred to other cars because of their low fuel consumption and availability of spare parts. The most common Toyota right now in the area is the Probox. Let's learn more about what these PSVs do.

They are at times used as PSVs. A taxi accommodates at most 5 people for their comfort but this is not the case for this car. It carries a record 8- 14 passengers. This means that it has really outdone a modern 14 seater matatu! The drivers seat will carry  four, the passengers seat will do another four then the boot does more than 5 passengers.

I know this is not possible in your mind, but to proof yourself wrong, take a tour on the Kisii -Kilgoris highway.

The drivers will drive these beasts hanging on the steering wheel to give room for more passengers while the gear stick is one passenger away from him. They will be seen doing high speeds of above 100km/h thus preferred by late outgoing people. They are also relatively cheaper for a passenger as you will save an extra sh20 as compared to the 14 seater. This means less time and bus fare on the road.

Although using these cars is risky, residents use them as they have accepted them in society. You will hear them say, "Heri Probox kuliko matatu. Kuenda na probox ni haraka."

The county government of Kisii seems not to take any action in this rule breakers as they do this routine every day. The thing that disappoints is that they will bribe the men in blue for their business to hit.
