The assembly felt this will allow easy tracking of the impact of children with disabilities-friendly schools and ensure alternative care placement for the children and easy access to the school system.

Nominated member Caroline Agwanda who tabled the motion on Thursday, said that children with disabilities are most stigmatised and excluded.

"The misunderstanding of their childhood has resulted to marginalization within their families, community, schools and in the wider society," said Agwand, adding that data on the children will help them benefit from health programmes.

Agwanda said discrimination of children with disabilities has resulted to poor education outcome and poor health for the vulnerable lot.

Her nominated counterpart Farida Salim expressed concern that the county was not taking issues affecting persons with disability (PWDs) seriously.

An issue that also came out was that children with disabilities find it difficult to access toilets in schools.

She said that the disability bill which has many solutions to the PWDs is yet to be taken for public participation.

"Many children with disability are being left out on the bursary disbursement since there is no record or data to show how many have benefitted from the funds," said Salim.

The speaker of the day Petronilla Achieng committed the motion to the committee of culture, gender and children affairs, and the Early Childhood Development Education for further scrutiny and table a report on the same for action.
