Moi University Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban Ayiro has dismissed claims that the school of law has no qualified lecturers.
Speaking during the 35th graduation ceremony at the university's main campus in Kesses, Thursday, Prof. Ayiro named five lecturers at the school of law whom he has PhDs.
"It was mentioned that the school of law didn't have lecturers with PhDs and I want to mention them by names; we've Dr. Chebii who is the Dean, Dr. Kubasu, Dr. Munene, Dr. Mursi and Dr. Ojienda," said Prof. Ayiro amid cheers from graduands.
"I find it disheartening to see our school of law being painted in the negative light," he added.
Prof. Ayiro revealed that they have already written to the Council of Legal Education (CLE) asking them to reinspect the school of law.
CLE chief executive officer Kulundu Bitonye on December 19 issued a public list of ten institutions permitted to offer law programmes, exempting Moi University.
The university has been admitting students despite being declared unfit to teach law.
"We've done what's right and we need to take our rightful position as a school of Law," said Prof. Ayiro.
