Self-proclaimed king of stand-up comedy in Nakuru County Professor Hammo has thanked his home fans for turning up in large numbers for his homecoming party.

Speaking to Hivisasa on Monday via phone, he noted that the overwhelming crowd took everybody, including the organisers and sponsors, by surprise.

“Sincerely speaking, that was so much love, nobody in our team expected such a huge turnout of people. My people have showed how much they trust me and I promise not to disappoint,” he said.

The hilarious rib cracker, disguising as a university professor while on stage, noted that his homecoming was a journey started long time ago.

“What you see today is a product of hard work, heartbreaks, dissolutions and above all; believing in myself and my capabilities,” he explained, adding that joining the laugh industry was the best thing that ever happened in his career.

Hammo attributes his success to one Daniel Ndambuki, the founder cum CEO of laugh industry, who he says has been more than a mentor in his career growth.

According to Mr Ndambuki, Hammo is a story of a go-getter who is set for bigger things because of the talent and willingness to learn from mistakes.

He said: “He was turned down during our auditions but never lost hope, at times we gave him little time and he never disappointed. Nakuru has got real talent in him.”

The homecoming brought together his fans, comedy lovers and top government officials within the county government to celebrate talent born, brought up and ready to transform Nakuru.

He promised to work with the Kinuthia Mbugua-led government to nurture upcoming talent within the larger Nakuru.
