Uasin Gishu Senator Prof. Margaret Kamar was on Wednesday elected the vice chairperson of the Senate Education committee.

Prof. Kamar, a Jubilee Senator will deputize Bomet Senator Christopher Langat was elected to chair the committee.

Kamar has a vast experience in educational matters in the country being educationists and also having served as a Higher Education minister during the grand coalition government.

In other Committee elections also held on Wednesday, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi was elected chairman unopposed and his Marsabit counterpart Godana Hargura as deputy.

Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang clinched the Public Accounts and Investment Committee chairmanship and will be deputized by Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.

Kirinyaga Senator Kibiru Charles was elected as chairman of the Tourism, Trade and Industrialization Committee and Lamu Senator Anuar Loititip as his deputy.

Others elected are Senator Johnson Sakaja who will chair the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare deputized by Senator Alice Milgo and Senator Philip Salau who will now chair the Committee on National Cohesion, equal opportunity and Regional Integration deputized by Senator Waqo Naomi Jillo.
