Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong'o surprised many on Saturday after he made a tour of Kericho town.
Nyong'o was in the company of Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony.
The two county bosses were on a charm offensive to calm tension at the border of the two counties.
Kisumu county was opposed to the repeat presidential poll while Kericho is a Jubilee stronghold and went full throttle to support President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This became a point of dispute pitting communities in the two counties against each other.
Things were made worse by the fact that they border each other.
Chepkwony and Nyongo urged the two communities to ignore their political differences and maintain peace.
"I want you to intermarry and end tensions at our two counties' borders," Nyong'o said.
