The recent Cabinet list by President Uhuru Kenyatta continues to elicit reactions, with criticism from different quarters.
Women organizations lamented over lack of women appointees by Kenyatta, with other groups and even communities calling for the appointment of one of their own.
Youth professionals have now voiced their thought on the same, saying Kenyatta’s first batch of the cabinet does not represent the face of a population that accounts for over 9 million Kenyans.
The professionals are now appealing to the president to consider the youth who are qualified for the remaining cabinet slots.
They say they are up to the task and have indicated that they will present a petition to the president along with names of individuals they think are qualified for the top jobs.
“We acknowledge the strides made in the recent years for the youth in procurement and other institutions. We are appealing to the PRESIDENT to also consider ensuring the same representation in the cabinet,” said Said Hashl, the chair of the group.
The youth say they are ready for the job, and only want an opportunity to demonstrate that they can deliver.
“We are ready for white collar jobs because we are professionals and we would like to serve the country,” added another official, Justina Wamae.
