Professionals from Kisii County have raised concern over the poor education standards in village schools in the region.
The professionals led by Soul Nyambane on Thursday said most children in village schools don’t know how to read.
Nyambane challenged education stakeholders and those who progressed after studying in village schools to help the children in boosting the education standards in the county.
“Stakeholders should step up efforts to ensure kids get proper education in all village schools to achieve better performance,” he said.
He said leaders should lead by example and support the schools where they studied.
"Various professionals who have succeeded in life should visit the schools they studied and encourage learners on the need to work hard in studies as this will increase chances of improving performance,” he noted.
