According to Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Hassan Abdi, the program aims at sensitizing them on radicalization and what it entails.

"We decided to focus on learning institutions since in the recent past they have been a soft target for terrorist groups since they can easily be converted," he said.

Speaking to journalists in Eldoret town on Tuesday, Abdi said the program aims at educating students, workers and teachers on how to deal with radicalization.

"We are calling on parents to closely monitor their children and in case there is abrupt change of behaviour should be reported," he said.

Uasin Gishu County has lost over five students who have disappeared mysteriously and whose whereabouts are yet to be determined and are suspected to have joined militia groups.

He however warned students who have involved in the use of alcohol, saying they risk being arrested.

"I am also giving a stern warning to businessmen selling alcohol to minors that they will be arrested and their shops closed indefinitely," he said.
