Kabaa High School in Mbiuni, Machakos County went into the books of history for shaping the lives of different prominent personalities in this nation. Former President Mwai Kibaki, trade unionist Tom Mboya, the late Maurice Cardinal Otunga, retired Catholic Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a’Nzeki and former University of Nairobi Chancellor Dr. Joe Wanjui are among powerful individuals who learned the art of success at this school.
Started in 1924 by Dutch priest Fr Michael Witte of the Holy Ghost Fathers, Kabaa High is now a shadow of its former self if the recent performance of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education [KCSE] is anything we can go by.
The school was an academic giant for more than 20 years but today it has turned into an average performer. Among the cherished moments in this school are chopper rides on the school and Diana, which was used to refer the minibus. However, the school will remain in the hearts of many for preparing a foundation for several distinguished personalities in the history of this nation.
The school also provided a platform to other persons to rise to the top including former Kenya Airports Authority director general George Muhoho, late Machakos Bishop Urbanus Kioko, Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka and veteran politician George Nthenge.
