Speaking at Kiambu town on Friday, Njomo alleged that some prominent individuals and businessmen are behind sale of illicit alcohol.

The MP said that time has come for the government to shame those engaged in the illegal business, observing that illicit brewing remains a concern across Kiambu.

“The war against illegal brews must be taken to another level, those engaging in it must be named and shamed, we cannot lose our society to people who only value money,” he said.

Njomo noted that many families across Kiambu town are living in abject poverty as a result of illicit brewing. He observed that breadwinners of most families in the constituency have been consumed by illicit brews.

“The fight against illegal alcohol must be fought  by everyone, we should not allow alcohol to continue consuming our youths and men,” the MP said.

Njomo appealed to the Kiambu County government to get serious and streamline the war against illicit brews.

He also asked Nacada to work with county leaders and help salvage the situation indicating that many youths are addicted.

Njomo at the same time asked bar owners across Kiambu to work with leaders and help tame illicit alcohol.
