Kisumu County Jua Kali sector members have challenged the locals to help promote the industry.
Kisumu County Jua Kali chairperson Andrew Oyombe speaking today at kibuye market challenged locals to help boost the Jua Kali industry by promoting their jua-kali products.
Oyombe noted the Jua Kali industry was a source of self employment and source of income to a large number of the locals.
He said by encouraged growth of the Jua Kali industry most of the individuals who have sort that type of employment would be empowered.
He further challenged the county government to encourage locals to invest in the sector by allocating funds to train and improve the skills of the personnel.
Oyombe said that most of the youth were seeking white collar jobs and urged them to stop being choosy and join the sector.
“Let’s help the Jua Kali industry to grow by promoting it through purchases. The county government should also be in a position to train more Jua Kali personnel and help them market their products,” said Oyombe.
His counterpart Brain Oyuga also urged the government to support the industry in order to enable the locals to be self reliant.
