Mr Makori said by the time of going to press, four cows had been swept away by floods, roofs of two houses blown off by wind and several houses submerged rendering residents homeless.

He said most property had been lost to the floods sweeping along Rivers Athi and Mto wa Mawe which are low areas hence prone to flooding.

Mr Makori said it was difficult to control the situation given that some of the affected areas were very flat prompting river waters to lose their courses thereby flooding everywhere.
