Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed after fire razed a building in Garsen town on Monday.
Tana Delta OCPD Mohammed Riziki confirmed the incident and said the fire was caused by an electric fault.
"Fire broke as a result of electric fault razing down the building as the owner identified as Mutunga was away," said Riziki.
The OCPD urged locals to be more cautious with electricity, especially during the rainy season.
"We are experiencing rains in the region. I urge members of the public to be more careful when handling electrical appliances to avoid causing fires which may lead to loss of lives and property," noted Riziki.
Residents in the area urged county government to acquire and avail fire extinguishers to deal with fires when they broke.
