Property worth thousands of shillings was burnt into ashes on Wednesday night at Juja’s toll station when a residential house caught fire at around 10PM.
It is alleged that a young girl was left inside one of the houses by her mother in the flats when she tampered with a stove that was lighted causing the fire that spread so fast into other houses on the building.
Juja OCS Mr Luke Odiwuor said that police have launched investigations on the incident.
He said that firemen from Thika Fire Station arrived on time and were able to put out the fire before it destroyed a lot of property. He said through the help of members of the public they were able to rescue the children.
Odiwuor said three children, a boy and two girls who are all below 10 years, are nursing injuries at the Thika Level Five Hospital where they were rushed after the incident.
Juja MCA Mr Samuel Gitau who visited the scene, said that he will support the families in the best way he can and also promised to consult the county government for any help as well as fellow leaders.
He added that there is need to have a fire brigade in Juja too as Thika and Ruiru have stations which are near to the people and can act so fast in responding to such disasters.
He told the members of public to be cautious while dealing with fire and children.
