At least 40 structures were razed in an early morning fire at Sweet Water area in Ongata Rongai town on Wednesday.

Citizen Digital reports that no one was injured during the incident in which property worth over Sh20 million was destroyed. 

According to witnesses, efforts to put out the fire were futile, as there were no fire engines to put out the fire.

Help had to be sought from firefighters from Ngong town even as looters took advantage of the situation to steal goods from local shops and bars.

Police, however, acted fast to control and ward off the looters. with the cause of the fire yet to be known.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
