We always wonder how men of God can be so rich and still serve their flock well.
The following is a list of Kenya's top 10 richest preachers who by coincidence live in Nairobi:
The Kiunas
They have a home in Karen and their Jubilee Christian Church in Parklands plus a flashy lifestyle. Anything makes sense here?
Rev Teresia Wairimu
She has her billion shillings sanctuary in Karen and this was opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta himself together with Reverend Reinhard Bonnke.
The major opening of the Faith Evangelistic Ministries Family Church was attended by dignitaries and celebrities together with special guest singer Pastor Solly Mahlangu famed for the Wahamba Nathi hit song.
Margaret Wanjiru
She runs the Jesus Is Alive Ministries and has served as Starehe Member of Parliament before.
She plans to build a one-billion tower along Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi.
Brother Paul Kamlesh Pattni
He was a main suspect in the Goldenberg (over KSh 60 billion) and Laico Regency scandals but later claimed to have turned to the Lord. He then founded a church.
He owns a chain of airport duty-free shops and runs investments in Mombasa, Nairobi and other prime areas like the Maasai Mara National Park.
Prophet David Owuor
He rides a Sh25 million Mercedes s500 that he reportedly received from members of his Ministry of Repentance and Holiness church. There is also the great convoy of vehicles accompanying him everywhere he goes.
But what is the source of all this wealth? God? Of course God!
Thomas Wahome
The Helicopter Church Ministries leader made news in the past when he accused an MP of stealing his lorry estimated to be worth Sh 3.3 million.
He once claimed to earn a paltry salary of Sh40,000 a month from the church!
An ex-wife revealed that he received 500 visitors a day who would each give Sh10,000 before seeing him and who would part with another Sh 3,600 if they wanted to check their names in the 'Book of Life'.
Pastor Kanyari
The 310 seed money preacher is known all over Kenya after a TV expose.
He boasts of a multimillion-shilling mansion along Kangundo Road in Nairobi.
Pius Muiru
His son just held a multi-million shilling lavish wedding graced by helicopters a week ago.
The Maximum Miracle Center pastor is said to have raised Sh100 million in 2007 to vie for the top seat in the country. Even though his popularity has declined, Muiru continues to make money from life.
The other pastors include Mark Kariuki and former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga.
