A suspect arrested in Kisumu Friday on for impersonating Prophet David Owuor fainted in a Nakuru court where he was expected to take his plea.

The 19 year old Kennedy Ochieng, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Joel Ngeno seemed to have been overcome by emotions when the court clerk rose to read the charges preferred against him before he collapsed and lost consciousness.

The man, a resident of Kisumu was immediately carried out of the court by prison officers prompting the court to defer the plea.

The incident disrupted court proceedings as the magistrate adjourned the matter until January 2 and directed that the suspect be subjected to a medical check up to ascertain his health status before his next appearance in court.

Ochieng was arrested in Kisumu after he was suspected to have been running a ‘fake’ Facebook page using the name and pictures of Dr Owuor’s of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness to lure both local and international followers on social media to contribute money in support of the upcoming end year meeting in Nakuru.

The police nabbed the suspect after he allegedly requested for some 7,000 Euros from an Argentine follower who called the ministry requesting to double the figure.

The man said to have been soliciting for funds from unsuspecting people masquerading as the man of God was transferred to Nakuru where Prophet Owuor had reported the matter.

The renowned prophet is expected to lead an end year crusade at Nakuru’s Kaptembwo grounds for two days beginning today.
